Struggling as I watch my mom age. It is difficult to not see the person she was before, lively and holding a conversation and even arguing with at times. I will be strong. What's that saying, "More than survivors for we live in a decade of hope!" The challenge is to live the words we speak.....

  1. I think it's hard for any child to watch a parent age. My mom is 74 and she's slowed down a bit but still is lively and fun. What saddens me is to see effects of necessary pain meds for the worsening arthritis in her spine. It effects her memory some.

She's a woman of strong faith which bolsters mine. I'm very thankful she's still here. As you say, give thanks for what we have and enjoy.

  3. My mom is 83 and has been my strength and my biggest champion and now I see her fade with each passing day due to dementia. A vibrant, independant woman who is but a shadow of her former self so I do understand your feelings, fears and sadness. It is times such as these that one can be so thankful for what they have given to us and hope we can live our life the way our mom's had and have been doing.

  4. Thank you all for the encouraging comments. It makes me also think of those who have already lost their mom or dad and how this affects each of us. It is good to know others know what you are going through.

  5. I went through this. Unfortunately, time ran out for my dear mom. I wish you many more good years with yours.
